I ordered a PowerColor Radeon 9600XT from Newegg. This card is spec'd at 500/676. I can overclock the memory to 728 (364x2) without any problems. However, I cannot overclock the core at all! Even if I overclock the core to 515 and leave the memory at default, games start hanging/crashing. This doesn't seem right. I talked to a friend and he said that with Catalyst 3.9 and higher, overdrive is enabled for 9600XT cards. This may interfere with overclocking the core. I am currently running Catalyst 3.10. Can anyone shed some light on this? Has anyone been able to overclock the 9600XT with Catalyst 3.9 and higher? Thanks in advance.

I have been using 9600 XT and Cat. 3.9, and got no problem when overclocking. Try use RinaTuner and apply Ati AntiOverclocking patch, i think it shoudl work. Most people Cat 3.8 and newer are locked against OC.

Get Omega drivers. They're much better than ATi drivers. And the included apps are pretty good too.
