i'm building a new system with an ASUS CUSL2 as the mobo but am still undecided as to what CPU to buy.
There is a place selling PIII 900e (cCO stepping, 100 FSB) for under $200.00. Any opinions on this processor? I hadn't heard about this CPU before but it is on Intels Sspec chart. Unfortunately I believe it will be only an OEM warranty which is a downer.

I want to overclock once I get this system built but don't want to have to go to extremes with cooling it for stability; that's why I thought this 900e might be good.

any thoughts or opinions?
thanks in advance

With such a high multiplier of 9x, even with little overclock, the heat is going to be most critical issue I think.. what do others think? come on share to us. The cpu chip itself is going to run hotter as you start to OC. and the performance of those chips suck. Why do people try to go with higher clock multiplier?? I know why.. They want more performance and they think they can go higher from thoes chips. It dont work that way.... You want performance, you MUST depend on high FSB only, not clock multiplier. Look at my rig... it kicks ass all over.. It's the FSB where you get real sour juice.

Suggestion: Dont buy 900E. Get something lower Es..

I have never heard of a PIII 900E. Only a 933EB and thats with a fsb of 133. Infact I thought all PIII's above 850mhz were 133mhz fsb chips?
