i'm over clocking my 2500+ barton, but i was wondering if i will need pc3200 or pc3500 ram to achieve my highest Oc or can i just keep overclocking to my max?

as i increase the fsb my memory goes up from 333, so does this mean if i want to overclock massive i will want more than ddr400 if i reach this frequency? (eg the ddr434)

(also posted in AMD CPU section)

Thanks JJ:mad:

You should be able to overclock a bit using that PC2700. You probably wont be able to hit 200FSB though (although you may get lucky). Get some PC3200 or PC3500 with the Winbond BH5 chips (found in Mushkin Level2 Black, Kingston Hyper-X PC3000, 3200 Non-A, Kingston isnt guaranteed). That will allow you to push 200FSB and beyond.

I'd get some HyperX PC3000. Mine's at 220mhz 2-3-3-11 @ 2.9v, and i'm not through pushing it. I think I paid $215 for a gig about 3 months ago... check the stickied price list... but I'm very happy with 35mhz over stock. :attn:

I'm pretty certain it's bh-5, but I'm not ripping off a heatspreader and voiding my lifetime warranty.

The mushkin 3500 black level 2 is the best bet if you have the money, as it basically costs the same as the 3200 level 2 black. If you don't have quite as much $$, then go for hyperxpc3000 or hyperxpc3200 non A. They all have BH5 chips and will get you the tight timings you need for your AMD proc, and with some extra juice (volts) these babies will flyyyyyy
