View Full Version : my 500mhz slot1 p3 wont over colck =(

hello i recently tried to overclock my slot 1 500mhz p3 and i was able to get it to 515 by increasing the fsb to 103/34mhz. but whenever i try ti get it to 560 by going to 112/33mhz windows loads fine but whenever i try to play unreal tournement it crahses what is up wit that?? also i can go to 133/44mhz will this urt any of my pci/agp devices?? also i have a fic vb-601 motherboard if this helps and 64mb of cas2 pc100 ram.

I would say judging by your component's it's gotta be your RAM upgrade it to a stick of PC 133 or PC 150 and then give overclocking another go, otherwise that PC 100 is gonna hold you back everytime...

Can I assume that it is katmai processor? If so, 112 is possible, but not for sure. What cooling do you have?

i got the stock cooling fan that came with it. also y wont katami cpu's overclock good??

becasue they were the last of the 0.25micron generation and were reaching the limits of it's capabilites, the best overclockers are alway the first lot of a die size, for example the coppermines are great overclockers because they are the first to use a 0.18 micron die size
