I bought This (http://www.directron.com/dk0719sa.html) Serial-ATA to Ultra 133 converter board.
i have asus a7v8x (w/ onboard SATA).
so i connect a brand new 120gig maxtor 8mb PATA hdd. And nothing happens.
The pc takes a long time "detecting IDE devices"
but the hdd does not show up in windows, or dos.
How do i get to it, to format and partition it?

P.s. The LED indicator on the controller board does not blink.

Well the thing is, it's not an IDE device. First what you do is you need to find your Windows Disk. You'll also need the SATA drivers on a FLOPPY. Put the Windows disk in, and when you look on the bottom you'll see "Push F6 to install 3rd Party SCSI RAID drivers" or something like that.

Push F6, and read the instructions, I *think* you push S, and it asks you for the floppy, and then you restart.

Make sure you have a 3-pin AND a 4-pin molex plugged in to the hdd.
