View Full Version : y do you all like E instead of EB
I dont understand this.
From almost everyone's Spec in this Forum, I see they take E (100 Mhz) instead of the Eb (133 MHZ).
Why is that? is the EB terrible at overclocking or something?

The E's give you a lot more headroom for overclocking, which is the main reason why we choose those! :) When overclocking Intel CPU's, your only chance is to raise the FSB, and with the EB, the FSB is already at 133, giving you less headroom to overclock the fsb.
Hope this explains it.
Most intel chips will reach a 1ghz mark regardless of the speed or bus speed but with the E chips you are getting a greater percentage overclock and they are cheaper, most people can overclock them by 30 to 50% where as the EB chips onyl overclock 10-25% and cost more becasue you need to buy a faster processor to get up to the higher speed.

Also, in the comparison;
P3 933(EB) = P3 700E
.... it's a theorm 6 formula to remember... heehee... then you know how to save money. heehee.. :)

Correct me if I'm wrong but if this is true is it nessesary for extra cooling on the 700E is all you have to do is set the fsb to 133?

Yeah, ain't he just Tigger-tastic? lol
The wonderful thing about Tigger, is Tigger is a wonderful thing!
And to wolfeman: Most people need better than stock cooling to get the P3-700 stable at 933MHz. Some good air flow in the case, and a nice CPU cooler should to the trick. Don't forget the thermal paste, though! :)
