To get a Celeron 566 in area of 850, is special cooling needed or is a standard fan good enough? I'm considering to buy either something lower like 566 to overclock in range of 750+ or a Celeron 733, but don't want to buy special cooling units.
You are best aiming for 850 as I would say it's extremely rare to find a cCO chip that won't do this at any voltage. Theres a good chance of making it wiht the default cooler but I would still recomend aGlobal Win as there are only around the $20/£15 mark which is not much considering you should be able to find the chip somewhere for around $60/£50 which is not a lot for a chip that will compare performance wise with a 700mhz p3

My experience with GLobal Win is that they make decent heatsinks. But i would suggest and Alpha. Buy cheap, buy again...or buy an Alpha. I've had this Alpha 6035 on about 12 different processors now....and wouldn't trade it for any other fan/heatsink combo

I bumped my 600cele up to 750. There was no increase in temp. 26c and hasn't moved, and thats with the default voltage. Standard fan. You really have a few things to look at here, the chip and the motherboard. Depends
600 at 750 is crap though, mine does 1008mhz and did 900 at default voltage right out of the box with Artic Silver and an FOP 32-1

I'm looking to go cheap, so can I use my current heatsink/fan (generic/standard) from a Celeron 433 on a Celeron 566 and overclock/overbus it to 850? What's cCO? When everybody on this board is refering to overclocking a Celeron, they really mean overbus, right? All Celerons are locked, right?

And is Celeron 566 best for overclocking? I'm using an Abit BE6 (original) if you were wondering.

The 566 is one of the best intel chips for overclocking. And yes, all of the Celerons since the 266, I believe, are multiplier locked. IMHO, spring for a better hsf than the intel unit. While the hsf you mentioned above might work, if youu spend a minimum of $15 on at least a Golden Orb, your additional cooling will result in additional stability, and therfore, possibly a higher overclock, as well.
I've seen GlobalWin FOP 38's on e-BAY for $22.50, dutch. This is even better the the Gorb, and really isn't all THAT expensive, when you factor in the extra cooling for the cpu, which isn't all that cheap.
Get a good hsf, set your voltage for 1.8 to 1.9, and I'll wager this chip hits 900 MHz, minimum.
Good luck getting there!

May I draw you attention to my post in general discussion: http://forums2.overclockers.ws/forums/UltraBoard.cgi?action=Read&BID=8&TID=4190&SID=49620.
I got my cC0 Celly 566 to 1003 and it loaded the boot menu from the win98 Startup floppy at 1.8V. GlobalwinFKP32 Heatsink, my original and (until I get a replacement clip for my Alpha) my best. I will play with it a bit more @ the weekend. I'd love to get a Gig as a mate has a Gig Athlon system I built him. Although 952 is my official target...
It's just a shame they charge around $150-200 for the cCO 533, and try to fob it off as an 800mhz chip!! the cheek of it!

From intel's standpoint (business sense) it's a logical, profitable, decision.
From the consumer standpoint, (ie, us out here o/cing the buggers) it absolutely blows.
Suffice to say, I don't work for intel, and I think this is a cheezy way of going about things, but if you were in the suit and tie, in the corporate offices of intel, re-badging the 533's as 800's is genius. There's a lot of "sheep" out there that DON'T know.......
We DO, but do you think that will change their thinking on this? Hardly.
Gotta look at the bottom line....keep it in the black, etc....
intel locked the multipliers of their chips to keep people from re-badging them, and ripping people off.
Now they're doing it themselves........
Gotta love corporate policies.

Spend the extra few bucks on a good heatsink, you may say you will be satisfied with 750 now, but you'll want more once you see the capacity of these chips. I just bought my celeron 600 from www.allstarshop.com -- not the best price on the chip, but they sell the golden orb for $8.50 and the Abit Slotket for $9.99. Mines running @1050 totally stable, and will boot all the way to 1.11, just with the Orb! As it is, I'll probably be spending more money on a better heatsink soon, so save the trouble, buy the best first!
