I have a Cel533A in a Elite P6BAT-A+ MB, a small pci S3 grafx card, a WD 15,3Gb and 256Mb RAM (2X128 PC100).
Multiplier goes to max (x8) whatever I choose. Forcing FSB to 100 with the jumper, I got 800MHz and after countless reboots and registry checks I managed to boot once in Win2k safe mode...
then nothing.I've tried to do the same with a Win98 HD (Maxtor 2.1Gb) and all my attempts went to hell! Should I face it? After every combination tested (66,75,83X8 in FSB autoselect and 100,103,112X8 in FSB 100 forced) my Cel is only working at 533.
What do I do wrong?

You've just got the wrong mobo. The ECS mobo that's a reasonably good overclocker is the ECS P6VAP-A. It has core voltage adjustments and a good selection of FSBs.

Thanks for replying.
By the way, my MB does have features like manually adjust voltage,
but as new in OC and not able($) to buy a new cpu I haven't changed anything in these settings. Is there any chance on achieving something (or killing something) if I start trying +0,05 in cpu voltage?

Manually adjusting the voltage 0.05% will not do any harm. That's a 3% adjustment. FSB changes won't have any impact, as the CPU is multiplier locked. You need to have good cooling, but FSB and Voltage are your only options. That chip won't start to shine until you have around 1.80 volts at a FSB of 90-95 MHz. If you cannot change the voltage by much with the jumpers ( I am unfamiliar with the board), you can fool the board into thinking it has a higher default voltage by wiring the right pins. There are a couple of good threads on this board covering the topic too. Good luck.
