Go into your bios and look for your FSB speed. Or use http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

loaded that up says the FSB is 200mhz says bus speed is 800 mhz? lol i dont get it... they advertize it as 800mhz FSB but there is a difference between FSB and bus speed?

Another odd thing is it displays my Memory as Kingston PC3200 at 200mhz but it is PC4000 at 500mhz

The P-4 systems have a quad pumped bus. Your 3.0C uses 200 FSB (15X200=3000 MHz). The default system bus runs 200X4=800 MHz.

CPU-Z don't always do a good good at identifying RAM. My KHX PC3000 is identified as PC2700 and my Corsair PC4000 is identified as PC3700.

But, CPU-Z does a great job of reporting frequency and timings. If you are at default speed (3 gig) with the memory ratio set to "auto", then indeed your RAM frequency is 200 MHz (DDR400).

Remember, you have to double the memory frequency to get DDR speed since DDR speed is doubled.

To run your PC4000 RAM at DDR500 using the 1:1 ratio, you need to have the FSB set to 250 MHz (probably not possible with a 3.0C CPU unless you are using super cooling).

so whats the normal temp for the processor and whats the max you should take it to? i have some kind of system shutdown and System alert when the CPU reaches certain temps. would like to set them at safe settings

The P-4 has a built in thermal throttling that kicks in at 65 to 70 degrees. Personally, I prefer being a little safer, so I have my audio alarm set at 60 degrees, although I prefer keeping my load CPU temp below 50 degrees.

http://www.h-oda.com and get WCPUID

or get sisoft sandra to check all frequencies

get mother board monitor from this link http://www.ntcompatible.com/story8384.html for your fsb and temp ...it sits in the tool bar and gives readings constatly just by hovering over the temp reading:D btw also has an audio alarm feature to enable at high temps...hope this helps:D

MBM reports my temp wrong after i a+c+d so i dont use it.
