View Full Version : 512MB Stick Hynix BT-D43 @ $105 US !!
I live in New Zealand, but if anyone would like me to send them some I'd be happy to do it.
I haven't tried any because I already have BH-5.
The RAM is just Generic Hynix, advertised as:
512MB DDR400 (pc-3200)/Hynix (Chip# HY56U56822BT-D43) - $105
Or Generic:
512MB DDR400 (pc-3200)/ Intel Certified/(Hynix Chip# Hy5DU56822BT-D43) --Lifetime Warranty! - $133
Or TwinMos DDR400:
TwinMos 256MB, DDR-SDRAM, DIMM, DDR400 (Garaunteed Hynix BT-D43) - $70

I realize you don't have the posts for the classifieds but that is the only place to work out trades and sales. You might want to get a mod to delete this.

well turning this thread around slightly...
anyone know how well these chips will do with 2.9-3.0v?
want to run 229mhz 222-11 if possible ;)
wannaoc,
Just thought people were more likely to see it here.. I'm not really selling any RAM, but I'm prepared to mail some if anyone requests.
crimedog,
Any RAM with BH-5 chips will do this if you give it enough voltage.
Mushkin Level II is good.

I can verify that is great ram the Hynix stuff. But the price seems a bit too high. If I were you I would shop around a bit.
Thanks Capt Fiero, I didn't know what the going price for it was and I've heard it compared to BH-5 so I thought this was a bargain.
I'll probably still get a 256MB stick of the TwinMos DDR400 just to see how it goes.

This is CDN$$ its about 70$ USD

Capt Fiero,
Nice price!
How far have you pushed that RAM, and with what specs (voltage, timings, etc) ?
Just wondering what sort of performance to expect...

yeah u cant go wrong with a 256 stick.geil and ocz uses hand picked d43 stuff for their premium pc4200/4500. i have some generic pc4000 made from adata chips. not sure whether they are d43 or d5 chips but they run like a bat outta He** and respond nicely to 3+ volts. if u get a couple sticks how about letting me know how they overclock... thnx
flapperhead,
will do dude, I'm building a rig for a friend of mine that just wants an internet surfing rig. So I'll get her a 256MB TwinMos BT-D43 stick and test it myself before hand.
Keep you posted...

Mine is the D43 stuff. It was sold as PC3200 but is the same chips used on the PC4000+ stuff. I dont have enough CPU to push it as hard as it will go.
Scroll down to the bottom to see where i am sitting with it. http://www.captfiero.com/cpuz.htm The full sheet is a breakdown of what I am doing with my machine.
Hav you tried running tighter timings with more VDimm?

I don't know enough about voltage on ram, I am already at 2.7 if some more experienced people could let me know how much voltage is safe I will crank it up and tighten up the timmings another notch.
A lot of people have been feeding these chips 3v+, much like the Winbond BH-5 chips.
For example, OCZ GARAUNTEE their BH-5 equipped modules up to 3v, and I've seen a lot of people on the forums that give those chips in excess of 3.2v
I would be completely comfortable giving those chips 2.8v-2.9v Capt Fiero... when I start raising my FSB I'm gona make my VDimm limit 2.9v
Just a question, have you tried any tighter timings @ 2.7v?

I just tried tweaking thinks and I really dont know what I am doing, and it did not work. My motherboard seems to max out the ram voltage at 2.85 so that is where I set it, and it froze up when I moved everything to 2 moved moved one of the 7 down to 6 and the other 8 down to 4. I will see if I can find the thread that listed all my settings and maybe you could give me a hint on what to change.

Most Hynix D43 will not run timings faster then 2-3-3 (CL-tRCD-tRP) above ~DDR333. It may run 2-3-2 up to DDR400, but I would be suprised if it ran 2-2-2, or even 2-3-2, timings above DDR400 with even 3V.

Current ram setttings are as follows
Bare with me this took some time to hand right down from the bios
DRAM CAS LAT 2.0
DRAM RAS PRECHARGE 3 CLOCKS
DRAM RAS# TO CAS# DELAY 3 CLOCKS
DRAM PRECHARGE DELAY 7 CLOCKS
DRAM BURST LENGHT 8 CLOCKS
DRAM IDLE TIME is set to auto
DRAM Refresh rate is set to auto
Which number should I move up or down. I ran memtest 86 and everything is good to go so far.
Sorry Capt Fiero, apparently those chips don't run 2-2-2 timings.
You could still see if 2-3-2-7 works for you... Then once you'v done that start reducing that 7 in one-step-decrements, but don't go past 5.
Thanks for the heads-up Speed_Mechanic2 :)

Well I got 2-3-3-6 and I think I am going to leave it there. I tried the 2-3-2-6 and it would not run. I have the 3 other settings, Dram Idle Time and DRAM Refresh Rate and Dram Burst Lenght that are all set to auto.

Your processor is holding your memory back by alot :0 - Maybe someone will be in the P4 "C" market soon - 2.6C?

LOL, before I put a new CPU in here I am putting in a new Video Card. Then I will think about a new 800mhz CPU.
Capt Fiero,
Does your motherboard give you any more FSB:MEM ratio options that will allow your RAM to run faster than it currently is?
I have an AMD system so I'm not familiar with how much bandwidth the P4 needs, or can use, or how much of a performance penalty would result from running FSB & MEM out of sync.
Could you shed a little light on this Speed_Mechanic2?

Max your ram out at whatever the board can throw at it, 2.8 is safe cause in actual fat it is prolly like 278-2.75. I know that my IS7 needs a vdimm mod so I can go higher than 2.8 cause 2.8 in reality is about 2.75 based on what proggies show in windoze
the D-43 shines with 2.75 plus vdimm, try 7,4,4, 2.5

With this CPU I only get 2 choices, 266 or 333. I think that means I get 1-1 or 5/4 I am already running in 333 mode that should be 5/4 and explains why my ram is running at a faster rate than my FSB is set at. I dont think that there are more settings than what I have already posted. Like i have said, this is a learning experiece for me. Until recently I have always just tossed the ram in and been happy with more quantity. I have not tried to OC or get it to run any faster until recently. I am just happy that I lucked out and got these D43 chips for so cheap.

Wouldnt those timmings be slower than what I am at now. 2-3-3-6 is what I am running right now.
Stick to 2-3-3-6 Capt, Cisco Kid may have been running D43 modules @ much higher speed and needed to relax his timings... but you are running them below spec, so no need to do that.

There is little to gain, and quite possibly some to lose, running memory higher then FSB. That is why it's best to get a new 800 fsb cpu ;) Though a 2.6C isn't cheap at $170-ish.
