ok I ordered my R9700pro (powercolor). I have a couple of questions

Which drivers should i use for the best performance?

What type of oc should i expect?

Should i get some new cooling?

If yes then what type of cooling?

Hehe, JK. Though seriously you should search around.

1. You can't go wrong with the newest 3.10s

2. Look @ the sticky on overclocks.

3. Couldn't hurt :D

4. 1U mod, Zalman ZM80C-HP, or Arctic VGA Silencer

Well, I have a Built By ATI Retail 9700 Pro, and let me tell you, the zalman's heatpipe isnt what you want for overclocking. I just couldnt take the whine of my stock 9700 pro fan. My max overclock according to Wizard's Overclocking Tool was 345 Core and 320 Memory. As you can read, that is awful, (Cool proggy though, I definitley like it.) I have seen a few posts around here about some arctic cooling thing? That looks pretty beastly. Also get some BGA ramsinks to put on your memory, if u have the extra money that is. I have heard they dont increase performance by much, but they sure look cool IMO.

Also...when I bought my 9700 Pro, dunno if this is still going on, the shim was to high and didnt allow the heatsink to contact the core properly. I didn't remove mine, because I am afraid of breaking it, and I have no warranty, now that I have changed the heatsink.

Good Luck to ya and hope this helps you out some. I use the newest Catalyst Drivers, ALWAYS. I have tried Omega's drivers also, but I just don't see a difference between the drivers besides different tabs in the control panel. But, people say the Omegas' give better image quality or something like that.

I can get my ATI rev. 1.0 9700Pro to 382 Core 365 Mem..I used after market cooling that I rigged for my Gpu and I put aluminum sinks on the memory. At the time I did the MOD aluminum was the only thing I could find so I would sugest copper or something.
