Man, i am pissed,
I just bought a fop-38 from my local store to replace my gorb. I put it on, and now it wont even post at 952, it used to boot to windows at 952, what the hell hapened.
What kind of temps are you getting? What type of heatsink grease did you use? If you plug that fan into your motherboard, there's a good chance you'll pull too much voltage from the fan header, and bad things happen.
I need more info.

Try applying compound again - sometimes this takes a couples of tries to get the correct density
Yo
P.s.: you may want to rethink your moniker

V Eat your heart out:
Yes, the thermal paste is critical. Those big heavy FOP sinks often move around on the chip during install and sometimes squashes the paste off the chip. I'm beginning to dislike my GlobalWin FOP38, the clip that holds it onto the socket is lame and hard to install and remove, plus they are just plain noisy. I'm going to try an Alpha next.
Are you saying that a little paste flowing off the chip itself onto the area around the chip hurts performance a bit?
No, that's not a problem, it's the lack of paste making contact. The first time I installed my FOP, I too couldn't even reach as high as I did with my Golden Orb. I took the sink off and the Arctic Silver had been completely pressed off the center of the chip slug. I reapplied with a thicker coating and was much more careful about installing the sink, then it worked great. I've switched fans back and forth several times now, and each time I unclipped the fan, the sink moved a little. Eventually I had to take it off again because the paste layer got squished off again and it wouldn't make the highest overclocking speed again. Pain in the buttocks.
