They changed the speed of my service without asking!!!
I was getting 1.5Mbit down 768 Kbit up for more than a year, and just recently they "upgraded" me to 3 Mbit down 384kbit up.
I want my upload back!!!

Got Comcast by any chance?
They recently "upgraded" this area too, and instituted some wonderful new caps. :(
They have annoyed me so much in the last two years or so that I am now looking deeply into DSL service- apparently it has improved a lot in my area in the last couple of years.

You signed the "bend over contract"... umm I mean user agreement contract.... they pwn your a** now.
Hmmm... last I checked my upload hadn't been hampered at all by Comcast when they upped me to 3mbit service.

Sorry to hear about your upload, but I don't think they have to 'ask' you if it is 'ok' :(

I do know that if my ISP (Adelphia) knows you are a massive downloader or uploader they cap your speeds to a lower rate. Only way around it is to reset the modem.
If you are concerned your upload is incorrect, call them up and ask. But you have to heckle them about it being incorrect and tell them you want your old upload back. Call enough and talk to the right ppl and you will get your way.

I got adelphia and our house downloads a few GB a week (VPNs, Gaming, Downloads). I also run a webserver and shoutcast, neither my upload or download cap has moved. Then recently I got my new upload speed (256K now like comcast).

I'm on residence internet here. Last year, it was REALLY fast, but as of last semester (I wasn't here then) they decided to cap the entire residence (not individually). On average, I get about a megabit down, and anywhere from .5-2Mbits up.
The problem is, I'M GETTING LAG IN SSH! SSH, for those who don't know, is a text-only command line of a remote system.. at the worst, I get 2 second+ lag spikes... which is really annoying. It's not like the bandwidth isn't there, it's just it's very unstable. Although I don't do much downloading, most of my downloads are at like 40k/s, with spikes to 300k.
I'm soooo used to my cable at home, where 850kbytes/s sustained download was common. Then again, it's not the bandwidth that I'm complaining about, it's the latency and unpredictability :(
