It sounds as though you get motion sickness from the head bob and the gun movement. I am not sure if there is a way to turn this off in BF1942 or not, but in most FPS there is. Have you tried playing in third person view? I guess I never have so not sure if you still get crosshairs in third person in BF1942, but if so that might be an easy fix for you.
How do I get to 3rd person view ?

Some people also have a problem with the brigtness of the monitor, do you play in the dark. It happens to me if the monitor is the primary light source for a long time.
I play in a deciently lit room.I am thinking it is like sea sickness Because I sometimes feel like that on my boat i am gonna try taking that pill fpr sea sickness to see it it helps.{Dramizine I think it is} How do i get to 3rd person view...
Try pressing the "C" key this changes the camera view in D.C. but not sure for B.F. 1942 or not. Also try a higher refresh rate might help with the queasiness.
i found this also http://www.techtv.com/screensavers/answerstips/story/0,24330,3003216,00.html
I set resolution to max refresh to max and all video settings to max tweaked my Video card and I think I am ok now with these settings..What a shame i have the best of everything almost and I get sea sick on my system LMAO...
Just keep a barf bag handy:D

I don't think you can get 3rd person view if you're infantry in BF1942 or in DC can you??? I thought 3rd person view was only for vehicles...

how often do you play FPS? Sometimes it's just something that people new to the genre experience because they re trying to concentrate on too much of the screen, or on the bobbing components in the game.
I'd recommend turning up the refresh rate of your monitor (not too low, not too high. a low refresh rate can cause headaches/eye soreness, while too high a refresh rate can cause seizures)
It might also be your monitor. CRT monitors tend to be harder on your eyes. Try playing in a store with an lcd to see if you still have the program.
This might be a kind of expensive solution though :D
500 bucks just to play FPS, although in all fairness i spent that much for the videocard in this rig so i shouldnt talk:P.
for starters, try turning off headbob and gun/hand model for your character. If that doesnt work turn up the refresh rate of your monitor. If you ve tried all that, and given your stomach the time to grow accustomed to it, try taking some gravol or something before you play :D
nothing wrong with pill popping for video games....right everyone....? lol
Well I think it is a combo of things and the refresh rate is one of them.I do use a LCD 20 inch moniter at 75hz refresh and I also think having a full stomach did not hjelp lol..I am also overclocking my card to increase fps and so far all appears well....Thanks guys my enjoument of the game exists because you all helped out..

I just went into bf1942 to check this for you. Anyhow, the different view keys if you want to go directly to them are f9 - f12. Optionally you can cycle throughthe camera modes by hitting C as this is the default key. Of course if you changed something else to use C then that won't work hehe. If you did and want to see what is currently assigned to cycle camera mode then go into bf1942 and go to the options screen where you can choose like video and everything else settings or quit the game. Then, click on options, then under that menu click on controls, then go to common. On the first page of common you will see camera buttons for inside, flyby, chase, and something else. These are the ones to set a key to go directly to a specific camera mode. On the second page of the common controls (by clicking on the little arrow at the bottom right corner of the controls window) the first selection is for toggle camera mode and that is whichever it is set up to be on your system. Good luck!

Try playing the game in intervals if it helps. Like play for 30 minutes, then go outside and take a breather. Walk around a little so you don't get so nauseated.
Does this happen to you in any other FPS?
It happens in every game like this one..BUT I did set my refresh rate to 95hz and oced vid card and front dside bus on this dullie and I am doing a lot better..I just think I need to get use to the game maybe ? Oh 1 time I played 007 and threw up like I was hung over lol....
