I have one Pentium I MMX 233 MHz processor, and a Zida 5STX-J98. Do you know if I can overclock it. Indeed I succeeded at 266 MHz, but I want something about 300.
300 is pushing it, with good cooling it is possible, even some p2 233 have difficulty reaching this without better cooling, I have a notebook 233mmx that will do 280 fine but these run at low voltages and I believe it is made with the 0.25micron process and only uses 1.5v so doesn't get very warm

The problem is with my mainboard. I does not support Intel Processors faster than 233 MHz, but it supports 300 MHz AMD Processors. Is it possible to run my old CPU on 300 MHz (or more than 266)?

I have a standard compaq 166MMX which i got free from work.
I fitted it with 192 MB Ram and it flew.
Then i was tinkering one day and I found out that I could get 233Mhz out of it. This was pretty incredible increase. I must of got a fantastic chip, because the motherboard is crap!
I'm now building a Duron 700 system, so that occupies my mind.
You should get a K6-II 450 and o/c it to 550, this will bring you well up!
Also upgrade your graphics card if you want some more speed.
I don't advise clocking over 233Mhz, because its not worth the money for fans and coolers!

It might not work because SOME of the AMD chips at 300MHz used a way higher voltage than the pentium 1 (3.3v at one time for the K6 233-300, wheras the PI uses 2.2v i think)
Other than that, it may be that it dosn't support intel pentium processors above 233, because none were ever made! Try going to your mainboard manufacturors website, they usually tell you alot.
the reason it might only claim to support 233 intel chips may be due to the fact that it was made before intel released the 266 and 300 pentiums when the fastest was the 233, but if it supports 300 amd chips then it should support intel chips up to that speed, try setting the multiplyer to 4.5x and see if it works
