My CPU is not working properly anymore :( I have a Celeron2 566Mhz i was runing it @877Mhz 1.75v with stock HS&F and 1 80mm 12v FAN runing @17v(Have u ever overclocked a FAN ) blowing in to the CPU. And it worked fine for a few months. Now im getting strange errors: This program has caused an error in unknown, or kernel32.dll.... I clocked the CPU at 566Mhz default voltage and still the same thing. I formated the HDD tryd to install windows 5 times! It gived me error in the .CAB files. I stop the PC for a few hours and tryd to install win again. And it got it right this time, and the PC worked for 6 hours with no problems and the strange errors returned, also im geting a BSOD this time. Now, iafter another rest, its runing normal. I need a quick reply, because i don't know how long it will hold. I dont realy know much of CPU's, can i do something to make it run normal again? Is it sure that it's the CPU, not something else?

If i cant save the CPU i'll have to say goodbye to the RADEON thats coming. And my CPU choice is limited: P III 550, 600, 650, 700 all 100Mhz FSB(My MB supports only 100, 103, 105, 112, 124 FSB). I want to know wich i can overclock(And i want to be sure it wont go BOOM) them with stock HS&F(Im not going to use the big fan this time).

Wich is the best choice in that situation?

Thank u for rading this huge post, and thank u for any help. And sorry for the bad english.

Were you doing anything abnormal before you got those errors? Im pretty sure thats its a heating problem. If you say that it works after you leave it for 6 hours, but then it crashes after being on a while, then it must be heating up. Make sure your heatsink/fan are still in proper order, maybee you need a more powerfull one. the fact that you have played with the fan means that there is a higher chance of damage to it. try putting the fan back to normal, or get a new fan, and try putting your chip at the default voltage and speed. (I cant remember what it is...) anyway, good luck, tell me if that helps.

The CPU is runing default speed now - 566Mhz and the Big fan is runing fine too. And im starting to get these errors again :( I can't put anything bether than the default HS&F, because the space between the CPU and the VGA is only 45mm. I dont have a temp monitor, but i touched the HS and it's cold.

take off the heatsink, clean off the thermal grease between the heatsink and die of the chip. Re apply to the die, and reseat the heatsink. Make sure it is flat on the die. That migh be your problem. Because if it is not on right, your heatsink will be cold becasue no heat is traveling through or onto it.

Tried that already. No luck
