Hey everyone...my second post in one day :-X, i think tha may be a first! I learnt about softmodding today and im intrigued to say the least, i wanted to know if the red PCB and 'L' shapred ram on a 9500np GAURANTEES a 9700pro softmod. http://www.allstarshop.com/shop/product.asp?pid=6538&sid=EC35LC9EJSSD8N3J0J6NS1BKTNW07AV2
has the 9500no for 145$ with free shipping, and its the red pcb board with L shaped ram, this is the perfect card for me if i know it can be soft modded. Plllllllease someone put me at ease and tell me i can throw out the mx420 for a 9700pro for 145$...

That's a big negative captain. Many informal studies have been conducted pertaining to the success rate of the 9500np softmod and I am sorry to say that the usual conclusion is that around 40% are successful. You can always take a chance and even if it doesn't softmod you will still have a much, much better card than you have right now. Good luck.

Man I hate that. I need to contact them tomorrow.
Odin, there is no guarantee as needitcooler said. It's about a 50/50 chance it will mod for you.

Straight or inline memory versions of 9500/9800SE are not what you want for a softmod card.
You want an L shaped RAM config pcb.

lol. Didn't you just buy one from there for like $169? The prices on the softmoddable 9500's are always fluctuating at Allstar.com. Those are some wild and crazy guys working there. :p
