I've read in some places that you can overclock a P4 by 400MHz, thats not bad... Have any of you ever had any expiriences with a P4?
I've seen a couple of screenshots of extremists really going to town w/ the P4.
Hows 2+GHz grab ya!
Can't remember where I saw this, but suffice to say my jaw hit my chest....
I read an article somewhere, (sorry, can't remember where on this, either...I gotta start bookmarking this stuff =) ) that the P4 thoeretically could reach as high as 4+ GHz someday, similar to the way the P60 (socket5) evolved into the P233 MMX.
I'd bet by this time next year, they're selling 1.8 GHz systems retail.

you do realize that they are going to release a new p4 core q3 along with a new p3 core (wtf?) and about 3 others in q3. this is what baffles me. according to what i have read late this year the will be releasing faster P3 P4 and possibly celerons (unless they abandon celeron, which is a posibilty i created given intels roadmap and my poor memory). so what I am saying is they "could" have up to six lines of processors at once not including mobile. celeron P3 P4 P3 xeon P4 xeon and itanium. unless they drop the celeron. oh well. intel is hurting my head. don't make me get into what they might be doing about ram support. i got to go get some asprin.
Yes, the P-4 is overclockable, the 1.3 gig should go to 1.7 gig. But, I'm going to wait until the P-4 new version (Northwood) arrives next winter. After all these years, I finally get to 1 gig, and in just one more year, probably 2 gig.

I have an itching feeling that Northwood won't be all what it's cracked upto be even at 0.13micron. Hence Tulatin - which won't be for laptops I imagine . Intel are trying to just piut focus on the fact that they don't want to have two unsuccesful chips - they'd rather have a good mobile solution, pooer desktop and extrotionate power chip, AGAIN

I got a feeling you've read something I haven't.....
Sounds like a sucker's bet to me.
You're probably right there, Jeff. I wouldn't be surpised to see that at all.

This was a pretty good prediction. Sorry I just had to resurrect this thread. :D So who won the bet?
