Well gang whats your input? Anyone have the Gigabyte 9800pro. Is there any differences to consider other then the GPU Cooler?? It seems ot fair well in reviews and does use Samsung 2.86ns memory....gimme some feedback!
Other then looks, they are virtually the same card. ATi holds very high quality standards with all their partners so all the cards are virtually the same other then looks. Occasionally you will get a card with better ram or higher stock clocks, but in the case of these two cards (and all 9800 Pro's), they are the same quality wise, as they all come with 2.8ns Samsung memory

Eventhough they are supposed to be the same card with 2.86ns Samsung - The memory can still be of different type depending if you get the most recent samsung memory one (8E) or the former is one (RA)...The 8E allows higher mem overclock after a bios upgrade...(hell of a gain) - You'll find more info in the thread below:

fibonaccov- Thanks for the linky and good read.
This is what I have on my ram:
HY5DU283222
AF-28 330A
KOR 7L4320AN
What is this stuff? I bought the card as an OEM Sapphire 9800 Pro from newegg for 266 bucks, what's goin' on?
Forgot to mention, the card runs 99% stable @ 395/380. This is using the swirly ball 3d thing, though I can get the core up to 415 or so using 2k3.

That would be 3.3ns Hynix memory (a simple Google search solves the question ;)) Those came on 9800np's, not Pros though. At least not that I know of.

That's right Strida - all 9800 Pro's have 2.86ns ram (as far as I know) so what you bought is very likely a non-pro - could you confirm as this is unusual for a 9800 Pro...

Well actually that RAM is rated to do 350Mhz.
So it's really 2.8ns

Ahh yes...i was taking the "330A" to mean 3.3ns instead of the "F-28" as 2.8ns :)

That explains it :)
I can get up to 380 with this stuff and no artifacts. Not even on the spinny whirly ball program that's taxes your card to it's limit.

Well I bought a BBA 9800Pro and currently have it @ 412/350. I won't go any higher on the memory till i have some ramsinks on. It's rock solid and doing nicely so far. Looking for a good cooling solution for the GPU now. Looking for Air cooling. Any suggestions???
Did 9800nps ever have Hynix? I think all they had was 3.3ns Samsung and 3.0ns Infineon.
Anyways, the 2.8ns Hynix in current 9800pros isn't too bad; mine goes up to 370 (didn't max it out but I've tested 380 and it artifacts; I'm guessing the limit is 375).
