my celermine 566@892 is MAXED out! will NOT go higher stably. what should my next conquest be?? a Plll 700 seems to be a fav... my current get up:
566@892 on MSI Master sloket,1.75v, GW FOP32 w/ Arctic Silver2 goop(great goop!)
Abit BF6 mobo
1 stick 256meg Crucial CAS2 PC133 mem
64meg Hercules Prophet2 Pro vid (BEYOND AWESOME!)
etc etc etc.......... so whats next????? the survey says........
That P/// 700E is a decent chip, from what I've read, just don't get the "EB" (133 FSB) chip, they're a bugger to o/c.
Mr B
Did you try the FuzzyLogic from MSI to increase the voltage?? This program seems perfect for overclocking but since I don't have a board from MSI I haven't been able to use it except as a voltage and speed monitor.
If you do increase the voltage keep a good eye on the temps as high temps from high voltages can fry CPUs.

Thanx for the tip marty, but I can set the voltage up to 2.6v(!!) and have tried up to 1.95, unsuccessfully, to o/c the 566. Maybe with a peltier or water I could make it, but I'm a lazy SOB!! ;^P
If you really want the extra speed then go for a cCO PIII700. But if you want to save your money, that would be fine too as I doubt you will see a lot of difference between what you have now and what you will have over 1000MHz.
Are you a game player that needs the speed or do you just want it for the fun and challenge?

mainly a game junky lookin for the bestest 3dMark (whatever the f$#@ those are) scores with my celery rig.... got the tame K6-2 350 o/c'ed to 392(I know, lame) with Slack on it for some, shhhhh , actual work! I am an aspiring Linux admin.... dont laugh too hard...............
I have a cb0 700 at 1050MHz on a BF6. It has been a great machine although it has been demoted to an Email server nowadays. Very stable and fast using a Promise UDMA controller and Micron cas2 ram.
Angry, wow, you have a Hercules 64 meg Prophet II Pro. Ah, that's my next video card as soon as the price drops some.more (and it will now that the GF III was released). Have you overclocked the vid card yet? What it do?
The P-III 700 is an awesome chip. I'd say a 99% chance of making 933 and an excellent chance to hit 1+ gig. Getting a 600 Celeron and overclocking the snot out of it would be cheaper, but if you're after great 3DMark2000 scores, go with the P-III and the best RAM you can get and O/C that puppy.

batboy, the Pro vid card is SO awesome, I have o/c'ed it (a blue orb w/Arctic Silver2 on gpu) up to 227mhz core and 421mhz mem no probs, BUT, I am cpu limited right now, benchmark scores are about the same whether vid is o/c'ed or not!! Games show no real gain in frames per sec with the vid o/c'ed either because of fsb cpu limits me to! The Crucial(Micron) RAM I am using should be fine up to 140+fsb speeds..........

Tim, do you use water cooling to reach those speeds? Whats the potential diff between a cB0 and a cC0???
