Yes, I've been to the DB - but still not much history on FCPGA cC0 stepping, so my question is this. On an Intel boxed chip, should I go for the 700E, 750E or the 800E ?
I am inclined to go for the 700E, it comes with "heavy duty HSF" (Ha-Ha, but I can maybe use that on my G2). It's selling for $159.00 + $4.95 shipping. 800E is going for $219.
I e-mailed them about stepping. they replied saying "they could order any stepping available" !!! I am going to call them on Tuesday to check it out - if it turns out to be a good vendor I'll let ya know.

I would go for a 750cco if you can get one!Same multiplier as the 1gig chips, and if it's the cco stepping I imagine it would do the gig!
I would stay away from the 750's. I think they are picked over by Intel for 1 GHz chip production. One of the members who sells pre-tested cpus went through a large batch of the 750's and found almost none that wanted to overclock. Far below the 700 and 800 in quantity. The 700 is the best bet, the 800 is probably 2nd choice for OC purposes.

Celeron700@875, 42Mhz PCI... doh! (sbawe64, 10/100lan, 2 scsi cards, viper2 150core/180ram)

Sorry - I should have know better than to omit pertinent details:)
Present sys is an Abit be6-II rev 1 with P3-550E @ 850. Corsair PC-133 @ 3-3-3. G2@ 215/390. 2+0 raid with pair 20G Quantum Fireballs. CPU goes to 40C using BurnBX - Air cooled w/original Panaflow Orb (the one that started that whole 'Orb' thing) I want the big G+. Probably going for a 256M stick of Kingmax TinyBGA PC-150 along with new proc - what do you think ?
Next project will be water. I have radiator (12 pass s/s w/copper fins, made by Lytron for IBM), will probably get an Eheim pump. Hope to homebrew the waterblock.

That Gorb may work for now, but an Alpha should yield the best temps. I try to take care of my processors as well as I can, and Alpha heatink products are hands down the best I've ever seen and/or used.
TBIrd 750 @ 945 (135mhz FSB)
http://www.1stchoicememory.com/ has sticks of 256 kingmax but two sticks of 128 are cheaper only 58bucks(each)!!! you can find it cheaper if you check all the sites. a stick of 256 will cost $135.

Thanks to all who took the time to answer my post. The guy said he couldn't get the cC0 700E but could get the cC0 750E - I declined his offer in light of Tims' info - thanks Tim. I'm waiting on an e-mail from them to let me know if they can get the cC0 800E.
I found the 256M KingMax Tiny BGA for $119 + 7.5% tax & $9 shipping here in S.Cal, but while I was searching I came across some "Tonicom SIM BGA PC-166", $132 +tax & shpg, but spec'd CAS-2 @ 150Mhz and CAS-3 @ 166Mhz, Kingmax is spec'd CAS-2 @ 133 and CAS-3 @ 150 - Which one do you think ? Any info on the Tonicom/Actram would be appreciated.
To 'cw823'. Sorry dude but it ain't no "Gorb" ( scuze me inglish! ), the Gorb is but a shadowy copy of the "original" Panaflow Orb - I doubt the company responsible for making this for HP would be able to make/sell these for less than $50~60. This is a surplus item that needs to be modified (drilled and tapped), and that is why it is cheap ($17).
To 'el'. I was under the impression that a single stick of 256 would out perform and be more stable than two sticks of 128, because they don't have to contend/negotiate with each other. That is why I was going for the 256, I'd prefer to spend a few extra dollars in the knowledge that my memory is going to perform as expected.

Tim- (Mar 05, 2001 09:10 p.m.):
I would stay away from the 750's. I think they are picked over by Intel for 1 GHz chip production.Good hypothesis Tim. But I disagree. It has long been known that Intel programs the CPU multiplier after production and testing. It is far more likely that 1GHz rejects would be labled 866s or 933s. I know that this is the second post that I have picked on you about the P3 750 :) But I'm doing research. My local PC shops sell the 750s so I think I'm gonna go buy one to test and clear this business up once and for all. After checking through various CPU databases on the net I have discovered that the 750s are very divided. The best OCers seem to be Philip and Malay chips, so that's what I'll look for. I'll drop you an E-mail and let you know how this little experiment goes. In the event that they are out of P3 750s, I think I'll pick up a Celery 800 just for the hell of it.

I would be interested to hear the results of Jeff's research, but speaking from personal experience as well as from hearing the experience of others, I would get the 700.
In fact, if you cannot get the cC0 stepping 700E, then I would actually recommend you get a cB0 700 rather than the other chips, (allowing for Jeff's results on the 750: I have no info about that). A friend of mine got an 800E, and had a terrible time trying to get a decent oc out of it. The 700's are cheaper, and seem to want to oc; they're basically bin-sorted 933's.
A cC0 700E would be ideal. Next would be a cB0 700E. I would not recommend the 800, and based on what Tim says about the 750, I would probably stay away from it as well.
My 2c.

Unfortunetly I was unable to obtain a 750e :( Or a celeron 800 :( :( But I got my hands on a cB0 700E, and guess what, its overclocking fairly well.
Did 800 right out of the box.
Did 933 after 1.5hours of burning it in at 800 at 1.85V
Going for 980 tommarow.

If this helps any,My buddy just bought a 750cbo,and it does 1gig right outa the box! I imagine their might be 1100 in it after a week or two! It's at 1.8v.
He uses the fop32 for cooling,and a cusl-2 mobo.
