Im getting a new fan for my PIII,- the coolermaster I have now really is no good.

I was thinking about getting a PEP66 or FOP38.

Will any of these fit my mobo? I seem to remember that the PEP66 is somewhat difficult to mount on this board. Is this true?

thx

Real estate around the socket is always an issue with most motherboards. The design of the PEP 66 would cause some problems - try the PAL6035

The PEP66 is a big bugger, alright. I've got one mounted on my Celeron/slocket/Soyo 6BA+III.

While it fits comfortably on this particular mb, it does have clearance issues on some others.

The physical dimensions of the PEP66 are a 60mm cube, with a 20mm thick fan on one side. Mounted on a slocket, this fan can be oriented so it is on top of the heatsink, pulling air up from the mb, thru the sink.

Cut out a 62mm square of cardboard, and do a quick visual of what it might hit. Hold the cardboard where the PEP would be mounted, and give it the quick eyeball for clearance. Slocket mounted, you should have around 10mm or so clearance UNDER the sink, maybe a bit more. (it clears my BX "greenie" far enough that I might have room to mount an old socket7 fan on the greenie. I have yet to try, but it looks like it would fit)

Thats about all you can do to check for a fit, without actually installing one.

If it won't fit, the other hsf that Andy mentioned is a good one, as well. Not as good as the PEP66, but sufficent enough, and far better than a Gorb.
