I am just getting into OC and I have read so much info in the last week my head just might explode. I was just wondering if anybody can help me out with O'clockin a AL440LX PII 333 with phoenix Bios? Maybe someone that is familiar with this chip set and board could shed some knowledge on me. I have downloaded a few programs Ex. cpucool, wcpuid if your not familiar with this board I can send screen shots from these programs also. Thanks for taking the time to read my post =)~

Who makes your motherboard? It will help alot to know, because then you can look up on how to adjust the FSB, And if your lucky and have a good chip, your multiplyer (maybee)

ewww... a HP? try looking on the board for fsb settings... doubt it though... p2 333/66 is the max on a 440LX chipset anyway....

Well it seems I have traveled a road with a brick wall at the end......Grrrrrrrrr Oh well
in the immortal words of the great Homer(not the poet, but the fat yellow guy) DOH!

Any suggestions on a new board and chip set to buy? didnt want it to have to come down to this but if 333/66 is the best i can get with this board/chipset, seems I have run out of options

I've run VIA Apollo Pro 133...ng for memory bandwidth.

i820...better but finicky with expansion cards, and PC133 SDRAM.

The intel BX chipset is still king. The Abit BF6, BE6 II, Soyo 6BA+IV are some good ones, just to name a few.

If you're short on $$ and can't swing the bucks, the AMD Duron, is cheap, and overclocks like crazy. If you stay with a BX mb, you can use the 333 chip until you get a better one....

Asus makes some good boards, etc....lots of choices.

Just wouldn't recommend the VIA boards (at least not the Apollo Pro 133 set.).

Good luck

Some of the LX chipset boards have 66, 75, and 83 fsb settings, but I doubt the HP board does, but check anyway. Mr. B is right about the BX chipset boards, especially Asus and Abit , as being the overclocking king. But, the i815 chipset is very worthy too. I'd like to trade my Abit SE6 in on an Abit SA6 RAID, now that's a great motherboard.

Well I have been trying to set my fsb via some software since I read the last few posts, and everytime I try with either Softfsb, or CPUcool I, um hang......my fsb is a Cypress, W48S111-14A any clue as to if it has any settings higher then 66? or anyone familier with it? Also if i might reprahse my question earlier about a good MB/chipset what is a good one for the price as I am a poor student =0, also thanks all for the great info so far, I appreciate it very much!!

Softfsb only works with boards that "softset" the cpu..e.g reckognise the cpu and setup automaticly..jumperless boards.
The Abit Sh6 will take your slot one chip, and take it to the max, so will the other boards mentioned above..but I too doubt that your HP board will let u find cpu nirvana.

Well all software tweaking I have tried has only ended in a big old hang....In my manual it says that 333 is the higest setting for the jumpers...so how might I go about tweakin the fsb manually? what should I be lookin for and how might it be done? Sorry for being such a newbie =) thanx all for helpin me so far
