I have a basic four speaker system with a sub, and it worked prior to my recent rebuild of my computer. I output to it via a pci 512, using the front and rear channels (mini jack). I know that the driver software has to do some "fancy" stuff to output rear sound to that channel. So I went to the drivers, selected "4 Speakers" as I did before, but to no avail. What I've noticed, though, is that although the system and winamp don't use the rear speakers, windows media player does. any ideas? should I just reinstall the drivers?
Also, I just noticed that FFXI uses all the speakers as well. so my hunch is that anything that uses directsound works... but I'd like for the system noises and winamp to work as well.
Nevermind, I fixed it... driver update patch, stupid me.
