posted this in the imaging and display device section, but was thinking myaybe it wasn't a monitor issue so posting it here.

I just got a new dell 2001FP monitor, the problem is when I hook it up using the DVI cable I get a message saying it can not display this mode till the computer gets into windows so I can't get into my bios or anything, the problem is only with DVI though, I use the DSUB and it works fine, one of the IT guys at work asked about the refresh rate so I was wondering if anyone knows what the default refresh rate on a nvidia card, specificly an FX5900U before it goes into windows, and is that posible to change by flashing the bios on the card?

99% sure it's gonna be 60, or maybe 56 hz in dos. I'm pretty sure your LCD only goes to 80- 85 Hz if I read the spec correctly.

That's a good one, I dunno what to tell you. Until you get your system flawless and stable and don't have to go into the bios anymore, mys well just use the D-sub

well I wasn't so much thinking it was over the max refresh of the monitor, was thinking it was below the min, the min on it is 60hz, if dos is running at 56hz that would be the problem, only thing then would be why it's fine with the DSUB but not the DVI, do they run at different refresh rates by default? not going into the bios isn't an option for me since my motherboard randomly changes the priorties of my HD's so it tries to boot the one without the O/S and I have to go back in and change it back, haven't figured out how to fix that problem.
