I am getting a P3 450 tomorrow from this kid i know for 20 bucks. (he is an idiot, and he is giving me a bx mobo with it, i dunno what yet) I am hoping to hitt 600+ on this chip, just to get good performance in quake3. I am going to use it as a secondary computer with a voodoo3 agp. (going to o/c the v3 to 200+, i have good heatsinks) Do you think it will go that high (the chip).

Also, i have a old p2 300 big momma heatsink, and i wanted to know if it would work on the P3. But isn't the p3 secc2? I will get it to fit!

And about the fsb, @ 160fsb the divider has to be set to 1/4, giving you a pci bus speed of 40! Thatz pretty high! Is this telling me that the other fsb's i paid for (i didn't pay for this board) don't do anything?
THANX

The P// hsf will not work without serious modifications the mounting holes have a much different spacing.

the P/// 450 is a chip you can actually work with, though I wouldn't guarrantee 600+ from it, but then I haven't had reason to look thru the database to see. For $20 you got a pretty good deal, there. It's hard to find a P I 233 MMX for less than that.

If you start drilling holes in the P// sink to make it work, lap the sink smooth again when you are done.

A BX mb, too? Be interested to see what one it is.....

I can't wait! The kid finally agreed to 35 bucks, a 64mb stick of ram (100mhz) for the p3 450 and a voodoo3 agp with some games! Not too shabby. I am going to get this chip high i know it. I have a feeling! this chip will show me some good performance in quake 3 becuase of the higher fsb. This should be a good test of my ram.

Thanx for the post, but you still didn't answer my question about the 160fsb. the pci would be @ 40mhz if i have the fsb to 160 right? Isn't that high?

Yes, with the PCI divider set at 1/4 it will be 40MHz. That's VERY fast for many PCI devices- hopefully you don't have too many. The PIII 450 will be a Katmai core, so don't get your hopes too high. It will probably have 1/2 speed cache and may not like overclocking very much.

It should do like 550 + right, on the website they do 720 (highest) and most around 600. I think it should do it pretty easily with not to high voltage.

Sweet deal my buddy has a 450 and didnt no about o/c and i went over to his house and it did 600 with standard heatsink and voltage so you might get lucky.

celeron 566o/c to 977.
Hey it mght not be a p3 but when u get 100+ frames in q3 who cares : )

This chip rocks!!! I got it to 600 (133fsb) @ 2.3v. I know 2.3 is kinhda high, but i am using standard heatsink/fan. This chip could use a good burn in and could take it higher. I am going to put a fan on the northbridge as well as some thermal paste. I love this chip! This chip destroys Celeron's!!! It even boots faster! BF6 rocks! I could post at up to 653 and it would freeze before it inits the memory. I even tryed cas333 and still no boot. Changing heatsink and we will see!!!

Very good. I'm stuck at 540MHz with my PIII450 right now, but it's most likely my memory limitation @120MHz. I'm going to take out the PC100 right now to see if it goes higher with my PC133.

Wish me luck.
