I'm currently running a single Piii700e in on MY VP6 board. I was considering going to Dual 1ghz Piiis but I have read the PIII 1Ghz chip doesn't like running in dual configuration.

Is this True? Does anyone have a dual Piii1Ghz system up and running?

Last, how is this chip for OCing? I think the 1Ghz flip chip is a 133 fsb which means it doesn't have as much potential for OCing. Can anyone confirm or deny this???

Best success I've had at dual configurations is with the 833 and 900. Not really used the 1GHz much as they were never incredibly stable as a stand-alone. Pentiums seem to top off at about 1.13 GHz, ironically the chip they recalled.

As far as overclocking the 1GHz processor, not too well. Like I said, they have a ceiling of close to 1.13 GHz. This is not all of them as we have many to attest to that here but most needed extreme coolong methods, etc. to accomplish it. So basically plan on no more than 150MHz out of a 833 chip if that's what you decide on. The P3 800E might be a better choice since it's at 100MHz.

you would be better saving your self some money and overclocking those 700 to around 933 or even 1ghz, if you don't have very good cooling then you could buy some of the more expensive models which will still be cheaper than a couple of 1ghz chips

You might want to go to the forum at http://www.2cpu.com. There are many people there who have tried most combinations. The PIII-1000's will be slower than PIII-700's overclocked to 1000 since the bus speed will be lower. According to Sandra my 700's at 1000 are much faster than dual 1000's in their comparisons.

I agree with Tim, find a mate for your 700.

Well, time for another motherboard upgrade for me. I'm maxed out with this one and just about convinced to buy a BP6 too. They come with RAID controllers, right?

MsNath, I bet 1 gig chips will be good for probably close to 1.1 gig, especially since you're an experienced overclocker that knows cooling. If you do decide to get 2 new 1000's and if you need to sell your old 700 chip, keep me in mind. It would be a good match for mine. Dual proc 700's purring along at 1.05 gig or so...sweet!
