View Full Version : Overclocking through mobo setup ??

My PC-Chips Mobo allows me to set the FSB to 66, 100 or 133 MHz, and a multiplication factor up to 10. Having a Celeron 633 the correct setting would be fsb 66, Multiplication factor 9.5.

If I set fsb to 100 and multiplication factor to 6 or 7, will I
be overclocking my system ?? Or all the setup settings are useless? How can I evaluate if the setup settings are doing something?

Thanks Alice.-

You can't change the multiplier on an Intel chip. Whatever multiplier it comes with is what you have to work with.

But technically it is still overclocking your FSB bus. 100MHz FSB is much better than 66MHz even if your processor clock doesn't change.

If I set a 100 Mhz FSB leaving the multiplier at 9.5, the setup shows a 950 Mhz cpu and it wonīt boot, so you say I canīt slow down the multiplier, then I wonīt try it.

John, you know Sandra, the software to determine and benchmark your hardware ? I used it on my PC and it says the mobo memory controller can handle only 128Mb Dimm modules, but I have a 256 Mb module and every report shows 284 Mb Ok (I have another 32Mb module). Would it be possible that the machine recognizes the memory but canīt handle it ??

Thanks Alice.-

Try just using the 32mb of ram, maybe the 32mb isn't pc100 only pc66 and can't do 100mhz. That could also be a problem. Buy a stick of 128mb pc150/pc133 and try that, if that works then ram was the problem. You might also have to up the voltage. Try the voltage first. Hope i helped.
