I've got my pentium3/800 fc-pga
EB,no not E, but EB Overclocked to 1125, at 7.75Vcore(7.70 is default Vcore voltage) on an Asus CUSL-2 w/ i815 chipset
in a STABLE O.S.(windows2000 Pro.) at 9degrees celcius in idle mode, and 43 degrees 100% Processor time at 45 minutes using,
(Quake3 Arena) and get this!! im using regular ol' radio shack greeze and a cheepo heatsink w/ fan, cost me $12.00 at
Compu-Zoo =) =) =) =), don't tell me that u have to have sum expensive heatsink/Fan with the arctic silver, and loads of case fans....cause i just beat the odds!!!
=)

It's not like you your self have done anything special you just got lucky with a good chip that didn't need AS and a fancy heatsink, but most people overclocking around this sort of area will need them, and probabally a peltier

Hahahaa, I would just love to see a P3 running 7.70 core voltage! Don't you mean 1.70V?

How did you measure those temps? With 9c idle, it must certainly be in a chilly room. 43C is very hot, and I wouldn't like it on my CPU. I would get a better cooler if I were you! Congrats on your overclock anyway, must to great to have a chip like that, but not all are that lucky.

What PCI devices are you using? 46,875 MHz is very fast for a PCI bus...

oops, fingers musta slipped!!i've got one pci device, my sound blaster 64 pro. i've got my p.c. in my living room, about 73 deg.F, i'm using a pop up
asus p.c. probe

Oh, you only have one PCI device.

With 73F being 22.78C, I don't actually believe that "9c idle temp.", I really don't. Especially not if you don't have any case cooling.

You have got a factory "chilled" engineering sample that runs few deg's cooler than ambient, these are hard to come by.

OK, I'll bite. What the heck is a factory chilled engineering sample?

Marty, it's also called sarcasm. I think you can download it from ZD Net. :)

Also read 'Asus CUSL2' these boards have really bad temp readouts .. im guessing that your cpu is hitting closer to the 50C barrier which is a no no on a intel
got the BOIS which corrects that problem?

Before you come to a forum telling other o'clockers to "eat their hearts out" just because you got a lucky chip, you really should put a little time, effort, and homework into the hobby of overclocking. And from reading your post, I seriously doubt you will have that chip long before you burn it up in a puff of intel blue smoke. I believe we'll be seeing a post of you "eating crow" here in a week or so where you talk about you think you may have burnt up your cpu. Anybody that relies on starting a good overclock at those speeds with only a retail fan and h/s deserves a few smoky chips to make them realize that you have your "tools" ready when overclocking. I've got six boxes here all with overclocked chips with active and passive cooling. I've never started an overclock with anything less than passive cooling with an Alpha or GlobalWin. Good luck though. I'm bookmarking this page already in anticipation of reading your next post entitled "I think I may have fried my chip"...LOL

LOL,, I would still like to know how he gets 9c with no active cooling,,,Must not of paid his gas bill in a long time*LOL*

I would suggest download mother board monitor,,and finding out what your temp REALLY is!

You have a really good chip,,Dont want to see ya burn it up*s*
