OK here is the deal. I have 2 450's One of them does 600 flawlessly. It can do it as long as i feel like leaving my comp on with no problems at all. However the other is being stuborn. It won't even start windows up. I want them to both run at 600 in my tyan tiger 100. The board and all my components can handle 133 fsb. It is just this one processor holding me back. Here is all the detailed info:
The processor I cant get to do 600:
450/512/100/2.0v S1
09310527-0433 COSTA RICA
'98 SL35D.
The one that does 600:
450/512/100/2.0v S1
19320223-0138 Philippines
'98 SL35D.
ok I know they are supposed to run at 2.0 volts. However when i run cpu-z, it tells me that they are at 2.05 volts. Is this just a glitch in the software or did I get bad info that they default at 2.0?
I am under the impression that I should be able to use pin taping to increase the voltage of the one processor to get it running at 600. If the default voltage is in fact 2.0 then i should be able to tape VID 2, 3, 4 to get 2.20 volts. Is this too much? Are those the right pins to tape for the desired effect? If the voltage is 2.05 I should be able to tape VID 1,2,3,4 for 2.1 volts. and if i want 2.2 volts I tape VID0,2,3,4. Is this info correct. I am very anxious to get them running together at 600. However I don't want to fry anything. Please don't flame me and tell me to search the forums because this topic has been posted before. I have searched many forums and read a lot of info at various sites. I posted here to get a few helpful opinions and maybe some more info to assure my success. Thank you for your time, and any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I have the stock heatsinks on both processors. I plan to get better ones one of these days. Especially if I up the voltage.

I dont know about the pin taping thing but I do know that all pIII 450's will not hit 600. I have one that tops out at 558 or so at 2.3v. I hope that you got lucky and got two good cpu's.

2.3 volts you say. Wow I was worried about hurting mine with 2.2. Do you think they all can handle 2.3 or that yours is just a special case, because I know every last processor is different. I hope I got lucky too.

With the old pIII Katmai chips, I believe that 2.3v is ok with good cooling. Make sure they dont get too hot.

I hope you can get dual pIII 450's at 600 each...

even if you can only get them both to run at 558, they would still perform as well as a PIII 1g, maybe better, because of the more cache

Well I taped pins VID 0, 2, 3, 4 to get 2.2 volts. Everything works fine at 112 FSB like it always did. However when I run cpu-z the voltage is still 2.05. I decided to try 133. I stops while it is loading windows and tells me that the file C:/Winnt/system32/config/system is corrupt or some crap like that. So i guess it aint gonna happen. I'll just have to settle for 504. Unless someone gives me any new ideas, or tyan puts out a bios that has more options between 112 and 133. Later.

Unless anyone has a 450 that will do 600 easily that they want to get rid of.

I just got a P3 450 today and it does 600 (133fsb) @ 2.3v. I am burning in more, to go for 639. If i can't get to that, i will sell it to you. I am using stadard heatsink/fan.

Hey Carmine_Paterno Good luck getting that chip up to 639. But if you can't i would definetly be interested in buying it. any idea on a price.
