Hi there. Just download some FTP server software and then a FTP client and install it. Follow the instructions for the software you chose to set up the server parameters. I personally use BFTP, and if you have any questions i can probably answer them for you. You also need to decide on if you are going to share the access outside the LAN onto the WAN (ie internet), and need to determine which lan protocol you are using, is it TCP/IP, netbeui, etc. Most if not all ftp servers i think require TCP/IP.

The most simple FTP server software but has no security features isBABYFTP (http://www.pablovandermeer.nl/body_baby_ftp_server.html)
I use GuildFTP (http://www.guildftpd.com/index.php) server which is also free and fairly easy to setup. It has some nice features....
The best free client that I have found isSmartFTP (http://www.smartftp.com/)....Good Luck
BFTP is Bulletproof FTP right?
It's the one I use, im totally satisfyed with this program.

with baby FTP you only have a public account and anyone who has your IP can access it. THats why its so simple no real setup involved but only one public account . With GUild and bulletproof you can set up different accounts with different levels of security. YOu can have some files be open to the public, others only accessed with a user name and password. The security is all in how you configure the server. Yes you can use your IP addy as your name just be sure to put port 21 on the end like 123.456.789:21. Port 21 is the default port for FTP (dont forget to forward port 21 if you are using a router). What I would do is use a service like No-ip.com or DYNU.com so you can actually name your server which is a lot easier to remember....
