What should i set this to in my bios, i have a 128 mb video card so should i set it to 128? or just leave it on 64?
64 will be fine...no need to ever really mess with it. Its just basically now much of your system memory to reserve incase your onboard video memory gets full. Since your card has 128mb of ram, that should be almost never

128 is pretty safe
I did a little test to see what happened with my system if i changed it:
used 3dmark01:
32mb:-19326
64mb:-19328
128mb:---19752
256mb:--19672
512mb:-19353

Generally the MORE video ram you have, the LESS agp aperature you need, not the other way around. It's similar to your virtual memory. But if you have at least 512megs of ram than you shouldn't see much difference.

well your test proves that using 128mb or 256mb is the ideal situation. thanks for testing I always left mines @ 128mb but never took the time to see the effects it has on benching.

I've heard it should be set to one quarter of your system's memory. Right now I've got a gig of system RAM and I've got AGP size down to 128, not really noticing any differences.

the way i understand it graphics aperture is system memory that is used to backup the vid cards memory. with a 9800pro you won't need much.

How about my 32mb GF2 GTS 220core/383mem video card in my slower machine. I have the agp set to 64mb, would I benfit from setting the apg to 128mb?

Judging from crimedog's tests I'd suggest that you use 1/4 of your system memory, but at least 64 megs.
Crimedog's conclusion mirrors that of a review I read somewhere talking about the same thing. 128 or 256 seem to be sweet spots for modern cards, the other settings are slower.

I actually get about 200 more 3dmarks from setting 64 mb. I think it really depends on the system.
This may be the article you were referring to:

It definitely depends on the system. Through some informal testing, I found that 128MB was the sweet spot for my video card.
