View Full Version : WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM
hey i have a 750 p3 flipchip, and a stick of pc133 infinton ram, now when i boot up a 1 gig, it loads windows and give me a windows protection error, could this be the ram?, i uped the voltage all the way to 2.1 and still no try, i know its not the heat because i have a orb, and its at a cool 23-30 degreees

can it go anything less? are you having any succses at ocing? a good idea would be to list your setup, even the things you dont think matter. theyll be some one along with the same setup and will probley tell ya were you stand in this crazy game. have fun .dont get frusterated
well i don't know but it could be my bx mombo, the ax6b, but what do you think could be the reason for the windows protection errors, i heard it could be the ram
oh yea, i can overclock this baby i know, because right now its at 840 at 112mhz bus, so i believe this thing can overclock

What is the CAS rating and what do you have it set at?
The 2.1 is your core voltage, it doesn't affect the ram, the Vi/o affects that, you could try bumping that up to 3.5v

Set it to 3-3-3 and you should be able to go higher. Make sure your "in order depth queue" is at 8.

ya relax the memory to the 3 settings . it should be fine though at least to 133 fsb. is your voltage upped? try to make the jump to the next pci divider. i dont know your board or chip. and now to tell you the truth i forgot what youve alreay said. hopfuly its at 124fsb you get a 1/4 divider that will help. actual you can probly get the 1/4 at 133 fsb. ah i gota sleep. good luck

one last thing cause this sound like the stuff i went though. if the mem setting have no afect and your pci clk is near 33 then check to see if you hd is running at the speed your board is trying to talk to it at. i had a ata66 hd driv e pluged into a ata100 slot on my board. it would produce similer problems. have fun
i tried it at 3-3-3 still no try, i tried that harddrive thingi but no try, the only reason i can find is that since i have an old bx chipset, i found out that when running at 133 the pci is at 44mhz and the agp is at 89 but i know my tntm64 can handle it i tested it out on another computer, so could it be the pci slots thats causing the problems?
Yes the 44 MHz PCI bus speed is most likely your problem. Newer BX mobos (like my Soyo) have the 1/4 PCI divider. Even good hard drives have problems over 41 MHz. Try turning off DMA for your hard drive in the System Properties and see if that helps.
