View Full Version : P3 700e
I have an abit BE62, with generic 133 ram I dont understand completly the FBS to ram. If I get a P3700e with FBS of 100 is that better? And do I set it at 133 in bios?
im no expert but
if you set it to 133.
it'd be 933mhz.
and that is the exact reason
y you get the 100fsb one..
and since your ram is 133mhz
than itd work :)
but..
you have to have great cooling
If you're wanting to overclock then yes, the 700e is a very good processor for it. Setting it at 133 MHz FSB will give you a 933 MHz processor provided you get a good chip that will do it.
Mine wouldn't...not stable at even 840MHz, but that's the way it goes.
There is a beginner's guide link on the initial page of Overclockers.com. I suggest you read that and as much information that is already listed before you begin if this is your first time. Use the search function on this board as many questions you will have will already have been previously answered.
We can help you much, MUCH better if you take the time to help yourelf as much as possible and read read read.
Welcome to the board, hope you stick around!

700E w/100meg fsb has more headroom for oc'ing than the EB (133 fsb). It is one of the best overclockers, especially if it is cC0 stepping. At 133 fsb you'll have 933 cpu and your memory will still be in spec.
Be sure to get/have good video card as your AGP bue will be out of spec at 88Mhz instead of 66Mhz. Set AGP divider to 2/3 and PCI divider to 1/4. CAS at 3-3-3 to start (you can try changing to 2-2-2 later). Check the temp in bios pc health - it will give you a good indication as to the effectiveness of your HSF.
Plenty of info on home page on how to do this - take the time to read it before you tweak something you shouldn't, and end up with a dead component/board.:)
Did you take that Mavis Beacon Typing class Jon? You beat me to it - I was typing mine as you were posting. ???

Just for your info ..... you may want to consider the XINT batch of PIII 700's (100FSB / Cco steppings) selling at "PCNUT" lately . I recently have purchased two of these babies from PCNUT , and BOTH run at 1085mhz (155 FSB ) with NO problems at a 1.75 voltage setting while using VANTEC 5030 air/cooler on a SOYO 6BA+III and a 6BA+IV , with IBM drive's , Crucial PC133 (Cas2) ,and 3D Prophet DDR-DVI's . Non-the-less to say that Iam VERY pleased with with the chips from PCNUT . I know the 700's will go even HIGHER ; but alas ..... my m/boards are maxed out at the 155 FSB setting , :o( . If you are looking into a PIII 700 for your current machine , you may want to consider the HOT batch PCNUT has gotten it's hands on ( and before this batch runs out) . Happy hunting , and many happy MHZ ! .......stereo55
