Well after looking at another post regarding a certain 1ghz T-Bird @ 1.7ghz I was a little skeptical when it came to a link to 2.3Ghz from a P4?? (http://www.clio.ne.jp/home/tatumiya/P4ES1700.htm).

So i clicked on it and i was presented with about 5 screenshots from WCPUID screen (in different operating systems and at different speeds, etc) of this Chinese blokes P4.

Keeping the fact that there have been a lot of fake screenshots about lately I was looking at this very, very carefully.

Well, I can honestly say that this looks genuine to me. If there are any specialists out there that can perhaps spot a flaw that the untrained eye would not pick out, please let me know.

Here is the shot, totally mad!

And I bet it is still no faster than a 1ghz tbird

Just remember that the P4 in question was marked as a 1.7g P4 (in the vendor string).
And my P3 700E @ 1059mhz will blow away a Tbird 1g... and I have the screenshots to prove it.....naner naner naner!

One note.. it's in Japanese.. not Chinese. But hey.. kickass to have a 2.3ghz processor...

gotta remember these people modify their MB, CPU's and have very expensive cooling

I emailed a few who had the PIII 700 maxed out way above a gig. They were running the chips at 2.05 and 2.1 volts if I remember correctly.

In fact someone may want to email this 2.3 gigahertz guy and see if he will respond!

Did you see that guys HSF?
Its bigger than the PC itself!
See it here! (http://www.clio.ne.jp/home/tatumiya/custompc.htm)

I've seen pics of those speed freaks rigs before. A cut down bare chassis, one card (video), one old expendable harddrive, power supply sitting off away from the rig to eliminate another heat source, max voltages, cooling mods up the wahzoo, and multiple pelts running sub-zero CPU temps with frost covering everything. Needless to say, those guys sometimes kill a lot of chips (and other components) before they find one they can run long enough to document it. Way beyond extreme!

Hate to spoil the party, but the multiplier says 14, which, given the 100MHz bus (standard) of the P4, gives a 1.4GHz piece. However, the given system clock (165MHz) x 14 does equal 2300MHz. Do you really believe a 65% system overclock?! I pity the poor cards....Would a p4 board have settings for the PCI clock etc... other than for running the 100MHz system? Why? Would RDRAM overclock that far?! It's already at 400MHz (DDR => 800MHz)....now you're running it at....660MHz....or over 1.3GHz taking into account the DDR....Do you believe that?! Sorry, but I'll believe it when I'm given the machine...not before.

This is all well and good..If you have more money than sence to just let rip with ice boxes and fridges. Call me an old fart but what is the point?....bar the fact that its there ( not that this has anything to do with climbing Everest )

I meen can you actualy use these things?...Would your wife give it house room?..Do you need ear mufflers whilst at the keyboard..does it have a keyboard?...Do you need to wear thermal clothing....and protective goggles?...Can you still do the accounts on it..?...

The mind boggles

It's like the early days of automobile hotrodding. Take an ol' car, put a big souped up engine in it, yank off fenders and back seat and anything else that don't make you go faster, then run it down the strip to get your timing slip and to have bragging rights.

I could be wrong but isn't that speed near the frequency of microwaves. And if I'm right wouldn't a microwave at right frequency interfere with the processor some way?

Or I'm just a stupid idiot.

Would a 900Mhz Cordless phone interfere with a 900Mhz processor? never heard of one yet...

I would just love to know where on earth he managed to find a heasink that big (or a company to make it for him) and where on earth the guy came up with the idea.

I would dread to think the temperature it was running at, but now with all that gear on it the temperature was reading out at -69???? thats pretty cold.

just because the electrons are travelling at 1.8ghz or what ever doesn't mean in any way that they will be emitting or be intereffed with by the same frequency radio waves, if that were the case then the slower the chip the worse it would be as the amplitude is higher for lower frequencies.

it looks real! WOW thats sweet, even for a p4. They should've had some benchmarks for everyone to believe.

Not Stupid, but off the mark a little...Microwaves use radio frequency to cook, and cpu frequencies is just the measure of the internal clock speed, and the only thing that will induce radio frequencies..is something long enough to pick up such radio freq's, like heatsink fins being the right size...but understand, that it has to be the correct size before it will pickup "RF" waves, and most makers have this in mind when designing heatsinks.
The only interference you will get running a 2.3g computer is from your wife/husband cause you're playing too much Q3A, or UT. :-)

I think those Japanese guys are foolish. Any fool can run a computer that fast with low enough temperatures.

Think of it like a top fuel dragster. Fast as hell. Yet they have to throw the crankshaft away after 2 passes down the track. The camshaft and block get throw in the trash every 10 passes. The valves, valve springs, rocker-arms, push rods, pistons, rings, and connecting rods, get thrown away after a single pass down the track.

Sure it makes 4000 horsepower. Sure it goes 300+ MPH and makes it to the other end of the 1/4 mile track in 5 seconds, but don't even think of using it for daily transportation. Basically it is unreliable, built only for one task (to make it in to windows an take a screen shot before the sparks fly). Show me a system that runs at 2.3GHz day in and day out without a single problem, and I will be impressed. Until then, why waste our time drooling over it.

sorry this has nothing to do with the post but many of you were discussing interference. i had a situation were if i signed on to the radio for work while i was next to my computer it would make the case speaker hum and make my keyboard ussles tell i hit restart. easy enough to fix but strange huh?
