View Full Version : Newbie wants his Cel 400@600 help
Hi,
I am running my Cel 400@500 MHz without problem by adjusting FSB@83MHz. But when I set FSB to 100MHz ,I don't even get to P.O.S.T. I am running CPU on a slotek on Abit VA6 MoBo. Help me get to 100Mhz FSB please.
I would like to ask a few questions:
1) What heat sink fan combo are you using?
2) Did you increase the voltage setting in the BIOS a bit?
3) Are you using a motherboard monitor of some sort to keep an eye on the temperature so that the increase in voltage which sometimes translates into a higher temperature can be monitored?

I have the Intel 400 Celeron in my Abit ZM6.
I found it easily clocked up to 500 mhz using the 83fsb.
I tried for 600, with a 100mhz fsb, but it locked up after it posted. I though perhaps it was my 66mhz memory, but when i updated to all 100mhz memory, it didnt make a difference.
I have tried tweaking the voltage and whatnot, but it never worked. From what I have gathered, its nearly impossible to push this chip beyond 500, unless you can use a 3 multiplier, which i dont think many mobos offer?
Anyway, I just thought I would let you know my results.

I have 25 Abit zm6's w/ celeron 400's on them at with. 64mb 100mhz dimms. Only 4 of them will post to 600 and only 2 run well at 600.
I have tried various voltage settings from 2.00v(default) to 2.10 and 2.20v. Heatsink is a global win type and keeps the cpu cool . No problems with that.
As I read the other reactions that this celery. can't go beyond 500MHz, i wonder if anyone has pushed it to its limits.

I have exactly the same problem as you! I have pc133 128 ram, ASUS P3V 133 mobo, a celery 466, and i have no problems with cooling. I have a Gorb, 3 fans located strategically *smiles*, and at a FSB speed of 83, my computer runs a cool 25, STEADY no probs. As soon as i crank it up to 100 my system locks up! I cant find a way around it. Please help us BOTH out!
Thanks guys.

Nevermind that 3 mulitplier thing, I was in la la land..
As for the 100mhz fsb, Even if I use a multiplier of 5, it still posts at 600mhz. I donno why.(locks up b4 windows) Maybe the ZM6 specs conflict with what im trying to do..i donno.

Well, the above question has been answered. The multiplier is 6 no matter what. Cause its locked..got it..
