Im going to be getting a wireless setup in the next month or so and I need help understanding some things. Im going to be using this with 2 pc's in my home. Heres what I need help with:

Whats the difference between the wireless access point and a wireless router?
Do I need a wireless card for every pc that will be connected or can one be connected via lan cable? If so is that standard or just item specific?
Also, is it necessary or perhaps best to use the same brand wireless card and router?
I have some ideas on what Im wanting but unsure if its the right equipment. If anyone has suggestions on what equipment to buy I would like to hear it. Im looking to spend between$200-$400 for the whole setup, but naturally less is better. This is a router I was looking at getting
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=33-122-022&depa=1&section=2 I figure this will give you an idea of the performance and such Im looking for.

Thanks for all you help.

Basically, a router would provide NAT and routing functions, where an AP would only give access to the subnet that it is on. You would have to have something in front of the AP to do the routing for your connection. Most routers also have 4 port switches in them also, giving you wireless and wired connections.

If you are going to get that router, I would suggest getting the cards from Netgear that support their proprietary 108mb connections.
