Stock 2 Ghz Ghz FSB266, locked.
A7N8X, 2x256MB DDR400 in dual channel.

This thing won't even do 2.2 Ghz at 1.65 Vcore stably; I can boot into Windows, then when I run Torture Test on Prim 95, the whole system hangs in 10 seconds, and I have to do a manual reboot.

Also I have a few questions: why can't I run my RAM at different speeds than the FSB stably? Currently RAM is running CAS 2.5 for DDR266. I tried running it faster with CAS 3 and the motherboard keeps beeping and won't go into windows. I also tried running RAM slowre than DDR266 and same problem. Anyone know why?

What kind of ram are you running?

Brand, version, timings, etc.

CAS3 DDR400. Generic. I could open my case to look it up later..

Check for other RAM timings, maybe those are making your computer hang. And also, check your CPU cooling.

I know it's stuff everybody tells you to do, but sometimes those things are so silly, that sometimes you just forget to look at them.
(happened to me a lot!)

That's default voltage. 2.2 GHz is excellent at default 1.65 volts for a Thorton.

I'm saying it will not do 2.2

Cooling sure be fine..never crashed at 2 Ghz. Timings are by SPD.

Is your ram running sync or async to the fsb when it won't boot?

On my shuttle nforce2 board, I can run ram and fsb synchronous at 189FSB. In async, at no matter what timings, neither the ram nor the fsb could run faster than 150Mhz. Kind of wierd, but running in sync gets me way faster.

I couldn't run RAM at async..just won't boot..i had to remove battery from the board to reset it. I tried running FSB 100 MHz and RAM at 66 Mhz, no go at any timing. I thought the NF2 chipset is supposed to allow you to run RAM async...given the choices in the bios. but I guess not, or maybe async doesn't work well in dual channel mode.

I can do sync for FSB146Mhz. But it's not stable. Systems hangs when I run Prime95. Temperature isn't an issue, it's at 39C.
