Can I use Fax Softwrae with an adsl router?

I connect to the internet with a 3Com 812 adsl router-modem. Was experimenting loading ActiveFax onto my computer.

Naturally it checked the Com ports for a Fax-Modem and didn't find one. So, can this be done? Is there any other Fax Software that works with adsl?

I think you need an analog modem for that. Sending faxes is like connecting to a dial-up ISP, it calls the recipient then uses a series of tones and beeps to send it.
