measure water flow in my rig?

How would I measure the water flow (actually the water flow will be the same.. but i just want to be alerted when the tubing starts to have air in it verse water )

That thing doesn't actually report an "rpm" to the fan bus of the motherboard relative tot he flow of water. If water is flowing at all it puts out a particular frequency.

Check out the products offered by Gem Sensors. or Gems Sensors, I forget. Google that.
 
will it detect if my pump starts to just pump air instead of water?

this is assuming pumps will pump air if it runs out of water... am i currect?
 
No, they dont suck water in to pump, they push water out.

If theres no water in your line the impeller will just spin.

BTW, dont try this, water is what cools the pump down, no water, and it will overheat and fry.
 
Right, if there's no water in the system the flow sensor won't work. Pumps only push water (or liquids, really) because air is too thin.
