What the heck should i do. My dad says he'll buy me a p3 700e this month. Would that computer setup with my componets last very long, and are they gonna use the s370 format for much longer. I was thinking i get the 700, oc it to 933(133 fsb is as high as it goes), then this summer, but a gf2 64 meg and a ddr mobo. how does that sound.
Oh yeah, go for the P-III 700. I went from a similar setup and I'm very pleased. Not a big gain in raw speed, but lots more gaming muscle and better benchmarks. I'm guessing the socket 370 will be around about one more year at most and then it's probably history. You have a good starting point as far as being able to upgrade in phases.
First thing, yank that 32 meg PC-100 RAM out and sell that thang. It's an anchor that's weighing you down, dude. The memory will only run as fast as the slowest module. If you're really set on a ddr mobo, then wait until you get it before you buy more RAM. Might be expensive. The natural upgrade path would be a motherboard that you can use your existing cheaper RAM. Your call. I'm hot to get one of those 64 meg GF2 cards too.
