Take your current bass, and multiply it by 2.

You'll get some kickass bass from 2 of them, probably equal to a pretty good car setup.

When my boss turns his Klipsch's subs all the way up and play them loud his monitor slowly tilts down b/c it loses it's grip to stay @ the same angle. This said, he has a pretty crap monitor though.

Well man what can I say? more bass=good :). I would definately consider picking it up as I have heard nothing but positive reviews about the SWS subs from klipsch. I wouln't expect the ammount/quality of the bass to rival a decent HT sub though.

Yeah, i dunno..100$ is a raptor tho :-d
Haha.

You might have to go thru a friend - i don't think klipsch offers it to canadians. :-(

Depends on how they have the boxes setup. One of my friends has three twelve inchers but listening to music in that car sucks. Why? There is such a thing as too much bass, you can't hear anything but BOOM, BOOM.

2 8 inch subs is just about perfect for me, anything more and I hear more BOOM than the actual good part of the song.

True, it can't rival a good car setup in power, but if I were to be setting up my car I wouldn't be using anything too big.

(edit) Also, I think the Klipsch subs have 2 8 inch sub speakers on both sides of the box. So, in total it'd be 4 8 inch subs when you have two boxes.

personally i think one 10 or 12" is a far better choice than two 8's - there's generally far more extention available at the bottom end.

As far as car audio goes, i believe in keeping it simple. A single 12" in a porte3d box is more than enough, and sounds far better than multiple subs in sealed or bandpass boxes.

but thats a little off topic lol

I dont' know about the box configurations but my friend uses his 3 in the same box, and the box is shaped like a parrallelogram, speakers on each leg and then the top base. He built his box, and it is airtight so that isn't the problem with the muddy sound.

Isn't it the bigger the speaker the less detail you get? It takes longer for the speaker to stop vibrating from one signal before it goes to the next so even though you get more sound the sound is all muddied together.

I'm not sure on this but I thought that's how it went.

BTW - it's not nice to laugh at people.. *cowers in corner*

yes that's right. it's generally accepted that a 12inch is really the best compromise between slam and extention. Any bigger and you start to loose detail, any smaller and the sub just can't reproduce the bottom end as well.

That is only a *rough* guideline of course - there are always exceptions. But, for pure bottom end, i'd take a single 12 any day over smaller subs.

Not interested in them myself personally, I already have 6 subs in my pc surround system, the subs from 2 sets of z560's, sub from klipsch 2.1, a yamaha yst-80 8", Mission MS10 10", David Dbox 303 12", although I don't use the z560's much anymore as they sound like total crap ever since I bought my Infinity Alpha 50's and brought em into my pc surround system.

SWS won't ever hit as low as a really nice car audio set up,But its still really nice..and i have friends that have spent 5k on car audio..Hehe screw that,..i'm not in my car that often..as opposed to the 16 hours a day i spend in front of these horrid contraptions.
