View Full Version : CPU upgrade for Abit bx6 rev1
I am upgrading from my 300a@464mhz, and am wondering if anyone has had any success on an abit bx6 rev1 with:
FCPGA or P3 slot 1 coppermines, or celeron 2's.
The extra performance is needed for games,(ie Nascar4).
TIA

just a bios flash from abit.................
lo m8
If it's any help I got the BH6 rev2 which is very similar to the BX6 except for the number of RAM slots. Currently I'm running a Piii 700@933 in an I Will slocket and cheap HSF with no problems at all. I've had it @966 but my GF2 MX didn't like it so I dropped it again.
Temps aren't a prob either - 25/26c idle and 32c under full load according to MBM. I can't see why you wouldn't be able to use one of the latest Piii's. The only thing you gotta watch is your GFX card if your gonna O/C the CPU cos you'll be stressing the AGP bus. Using on of the 100mhz pentiums won't cause any hassle tho.
You may not even have to flash your BIOS.. I did just to be on the safe side.
best of luck m8... hopefully you won't need any tho ......
