I have my router set to assign static ips for my 3 computers. It used to show a list of the assigned static ips in the router when I went to the DHCP tab. It no longer shows them but the computers still have internet. I would like to change 1 of the static ips but I don't know how since they do not show up anymore. I tried just entering a new one in the router and that worked, but I can still use the internet using the old ip too. Can anybody help me?

Ok I figured out how to get it to show the assigned ips. I enabled dynamic DHCP and then disabled it and they showed up. It showed the newly assigned ip and not the old one. So why does the old one still work? I got curious and decided I would enter a different static ip in the computers tcp/ip properties. I could still get internet access no matter what ip I entered in the computers tcp/ip properties. I thought the static ip that I set in the router had to be the same as the static ip I set in the computers tcp/ip properties. Now I'm just totally confused.

just because you use dhcp doesn't mean that the other ip addresses will not make a connection to the internet. all of the ip addresses in your range x.x.x.1 thru 255 will all make connections as long as the gateway and such is setup correctly. basically, if you manually set an ip address and it will still work, it is because the router doesn't have features that will allow you to block non-dhcp ip addresses. that's why they still work ;)
