O right, i have to be the happiest person on earth right now!!! I just started messing around with my P3 450 again after 2 days of seti@home and playing some quake3 when i can't sleep....And it went all the way stable to 617 2.3v 3.9v I/O. The I/0 voltage has to do with the ram/video card right? It runs more stable as i increase the i/o.

I never used case fans before, i thought they didn't make a difference! From before without them, i was stuck @ 600 2.3v with 31C idle and now @ 617 2.3v i am @ 24C idle!!! Big drop.

And 1 more thing.....I was wondering if i could wire the vid pins on my P3 450 so i could get to 2.4-2.5v then maybe hitt 700mhz. That would be great....anyone know how i could do this?

This computer is shaping up better and better every 2 days!!! (every 2 days i check and see what is the most stable fsb, yesterday was 604, and now 617!!!)

Thanx ALOT!!!!

You REALLY are kidding about putting 2.5v thru that chip, right?!?!?!?!?

2.5v ?

two point five volts ?

Have fun while it lasts, then.........it won't.

I don't know about that part. On a Katmai core 2.5v is only a 10% increase in Vcore. It's the 3.9v IO I'd be concerned about. The RAM is probably sweating bullets right about now. Every device on the bus is running with increased dissipation as well, and I'm confident that the video card temps will be elevated somewhat.

I'm sorry, I thought the default on that chip was 2.0v. coulda sworn Carmine posted as such, as well.

2.0 to 2.5 would have been a 25% jump in the vcore, which is kinda high.

I'm not as familiar with that chip as you are, Tim. My bad.

Just went to the database and linked to intels P/// specs from there.

That P/// 450 is a 2.0v default. 2.5v would be a 25% increase for this chip, which would be high.

it might be fun for a few seconds to watch it fly then fry. lol. My offer still stands if you wanna get rid of that 450.
