I have an old laptop running windows 95, and the power management is set up through an on-the-go BIOS. But windows wants to run its own APM (advanced power management) feature anyway, so I wanna tear it out. In the windows 95 install, I selected to install no power management features, but in an Add Hardware Wizard run-through, I accidentally installed it (cause windows detected it). Even after I remove the APM, the BIOS-style power management still doesnt act correctly like it ran before the "oops" APM install.
What are the files windows 95 uses for its APM?
I'll tear it out (with your help ;)) and katana down the error messages on my own.
Thanks a lot!

In windows xp, and I think the settings are similar in 95, 98 etc. Go to control panel, then display. Hit the screen saver tab, and there should be something around there called monitor power, or power options, something to that effect. Click the button that says power beside it. Then those should be the power settings there. At least under xp that's what it's like, I think it's similar for other windows versions, but no guarantees. For my desktop though, I have it set to never turn off hard disks or monitor. Hope that helps.

No, it's not that. My laptop and windows 95 power management hate each other. I turn off all windows power management features but it still won't let my lapper turn the hard drive off by itself. The hard drive spins down, but right away, it spins back up.

Use you find function to look for "acpi". Those should be the files your looking for. Oops "apm" in Win95.
