system upgrade

I am a newbie so please bear with me. Ok parts starting to arrive for my upgrade. I am upgrading from a p2 233.
My current hard drive has bad sectors so I am upgrading to western digital 20gig 7200rpm. My question is this, can I install and format and load windows on it in my current system or do I have to wait until I install my new mb (asus cusL2) to format it and load windows.

You'll have to partition it, format it, and install windows after you get your Asus mobo.. because you'll have to install its chipset or controllers drivers. would be better to wait till you get the mobo.. Do you have different a different mobo currently?

No. You can load right up in your currect system, but just as soon as it goes to do the first reboot, stop right there and pull it out and wait until your new stuff is ready.
