Internet connection type; dial, cable, dsl
Infrastructure; modem,router, switch, hub, mfgr etc
PC's; how many, OS types, what are they used for

My setup,,,,,

Internet connection - Mediacom cable 1.5m/128k (soon to be upgraded to 3m/256k) yay!

Infrastructure - Dlink DCM200 cable modem, Dlink 704 router, Dlink 5port switch, Trendnet 8 port switch (adding wireless soon)

PC's = 9. All at 100M except laptop (10M), 3 in upstairs office. 1- W98 voicemail/fax, 1- W98 kid's/general purpose, 1- XP pro wife's (home business), 1- W98 laptop in living room, hooked to stereo to play mp3's. 5 in the basement, 1- XP pro mine, 1- RH 7.3 mp3 server, 1- Suse 9.0 squid proxy and ssh server, 1- 2KPro DVD burner station to convert VHS to DVD, 1 - my sandbox, the OS varies, right now it's Debian.

So what do you have?

2x laptops windowsxp/2000 (occasionally like once a month)

#2 Linksys Wireless Router acting as a wireless switch.

2. P4 2.4 WinXP Pro Moms computer
3. XP2500 WinXP Home Mine
4. Hp Server, dual pentium pro WinNT Server. Sits in closet because i don't have a use for it.

Just have to ask, how does it come you guys such slow "upspeed" while you have pretty nice "downspeed"?

Is this the general case?

#3= In order of Sig :

#1: XP Pro. Gaming / Work / Photo and Video editing
#2: XP Pro, Web Server, FTP server , Video Server, Communication and web browsing, Backup Server.
#3: XP Pro, Gaming at Lan Parties, Music, DVD/Film Server (I broadcast to my other PC's, TV or Stereo) TV, Ripping DVD's and Music (As stated above...saves me looking for the disk!)

Not in Sig

#4: Casio E-2000 Pocket PC with Windows 2002 Mobile edition, Used for Web design while on the train, Watching films or listening to Music while on the train. Games, internet, e-mail , MSN.

#5: D-Link Print server, O/S is D-link print server firmware

#6: several PC's in pieces with nothing on them.

1 - Comes into house as 3000/384 (PowerLink)
2 - Goes to Linksys 4-way router/NAT
3 - Goes to my room to an 8-port 100Base
4 - 5 PCz use the hundred base in my room
5 - #1 spot on 100Base hub goes to WebHost/F-Wall
6 - #7 spot on 100Base breaks off into a 24-port 10Base (LANPARTIES :attn: )

Jeez most of you guys are spoiled with a high speed connection.

Internet connection-dialup 28.8, 31.2 if I'm lucky
Infrastructure- US Robotics 56k x2 courier external(blinking red lights are fun!)
PC 1. Win2000-everthing under the sun 2. Win98 PPro-email, word processing 3. Digital P120 server 64 ram, Win2000, sits in my closet collecting dust

Infrastructure: Linksys 4 port switch/router/802.1b --> Generic 5 port 10/100 switch.

Machines:

1. Main Box: XP AMD 1800+
2. Laptop: IBM T23
3. Windows 2k Server: AMD K6-2 450mhz
4. Gentoo Server: Intel Celeron 366mhz

Gentoo server has squid to cache web pages and named for resolution as well acts as an secure end point while at school. Win2k server my desktop away from home.
