This is the S-Spec nr of the 566+mhz plus (FCPGA) cellys
these should be C0 (i canīt garantuee it though)

566mhz
SL4PC
SL4NW
600mhz
SL4PB
SL4NX
633mhz
SL4PA
SL4NY
667mhz
SL4P9
SL4NZ
700mhz
SL4PB
SL4P2

The 733,766 and 800mhz are only produced in cC0 (C0) stepping.. so i dont write them (atleast the table from intel says so)

ALL the cC0 (C0) has CORE ID = 0686h
ALL the cB0 has CORE ID = 0683h
-------------------------------------------------
ALL the cC0 (C0) has a defualt vcore of 1.7
the cB0 vcore if diffrent from mhz to mhz (ithink)
i canīt garantuee it but that was the table from intel says

as i have said many times during this post = I CANT GARATUEE ANYTHING. but this should help you to get the best processor.

The trick is getting the codes of the prspective chip prior to the purchase.
Unless you buy a pretested chip, isn't it pretty much a crap-shoot on whether you get a cB0 or cC0. I did buy my chip from a vendor who guarranteed at least 900 Mhz. Haven't got it in a board yet.

You are correct about the 1.7v chips being cC0 stepping. Quickest way to tell, if you have access to the info.

I got my 2nd Celeron thru e-BAY.....after I won the auction ($56 + shipping) I e-mailed the seller and asked him for the numbers off of the chip.

Soiled my shorts when the reply said 1.7v.

No logical reason why you can't ask the seller BEFORE you bid (if you were to acquire a processor this way). Just look for the 1.7v label.

Well the cCO boxes i've seen does not list the vcore, my 633 box doesn't list it, but the s-spec tells me it's a cC0 chip. I got my 633Mhz cCo @ 950 @ 1.9v @ 105.3F, is that hot?? I'm only using the intel stock fan, and i dunno how it'll perform in the summer.

Well thats a nice clock, hmm 105.3F is roughly.. (Squints and thinks hard, smoke comming from his ears..) 40.7 C, so dude, COOL THAT CHIP.

Honestly, I never overclock with just stock cooling, its not worth the risk!

If you saw the front page recently there was a very impressive heatsink that preforms like water cooling, I'd look into that if you where interested in it, I know I am :)

DEFINITELY pitch that intel hsf in the weeds. At LEAST get a Gorb, but better would be just about any Alpha or GlobalWin product for a socket370.

Lets put it this way, same church, different pew......

I just replaced the intel hsf on my P/// 600E with an Alpha P3125. I lapped the intle sink, and cpu, and the temp got to 49c one time, usually ran 45 to 47c loaded.

I have yet to see ANY temp over 33c with the Alpha installed. That's worth a few bucks to me. Heat is the natural enemy of your computer. ANY way you can reduce temps is benificial.

BTW...105f is a little bit high. Invest in a good hsf, and that chip will live a lot longer.

Correction ----- it's 105.3F at full load, when idle it's very cool to touch. And how much do those Alpha and Globalwin heatsinks go for??

A bit of comparison shopping will turn one up for less than $30. I got the Alpha PEP66T for my Celeron from another forum member when he went to H2O for $25, and the P3125 for my slot 1 P/// thru e-BAY for $31, shipped.

They usually retail for around $30 and $45, respectively. Again, a bit of effort in the searching will turn one up cheaper than that. I see GlobalWin FOP 32 (or 38 , can't remember) hsf's on e-BAY all the time for $22. The Gorb retails for around $15.

Seek, and ye shall find.............
