View Full Version : Can I overclock my HP pavillion 500MHZ??
Hello. Do you guys think that I could OC my HP pavillion???
- I have a IBM PC/AT mobo and 96mb of RAM.
- integraded video ram 1 mb
- The FSB in sisoft sandra shows at 67
- IF so, How do I overclock this dinosour :)
Also, if I OC my pc. Do I have to add more RAM?
Thanks
HP typically makes overclocking difficult if not impossible by neutering the motherboards and bios. You need to determine the actual motherboard brand and model before we can possibly help. Visually inspect the MB around the PCI slots and see if there are any brand names or numbers located there. Also at the end of the board after the last slot. Another method is to find the bios chip (probably the only "socketed" chip on the board, and write down any numbers you find on it's label.
The program Sandra will also give motherboard data that may aid in identification.
Hi Tim. Below are some info about my pc. I used sandra 2001 pro. Hope this pics help.

Thanks again.
That helps, but just a little. I'm not familiar with any 810 chipset boards that HP used. Since you have a ppga 500 celeron it may prove difficult. I say that because the original Mendocino cores typically top out around 600MHz or less. This would require an FSB in the 75Mhz range. Many MBs don't have much selection in this neighborhood. If you have jumper selections on the MB for 75MHz clock, you might try that. Since it's an HP it's doubtful that there will be any FSB adjustments in the bios.
A visual inspection for make and model of the MB is about the only option to help in finding out the details, and determining what may be possible.
